Harvey’s Brewery Brand Illustrations

A unique series of hand drawn beer label brand illustrations created for Harvey’s Brewery Lewes Seasonal Ale range.

The Story

Harvey's Brewery is the oldest independent brewery in Sussex. A family business, the brewery has been in the guardianship of seven generations of John Harvey's descendants since 1790.

I was delighted when this Sussex based, award winning brewery approached me to help with the visual reworking of their brand. As well as the famous Harvey’s Best, I.P.A. and Old ales Harvey’s brewery have over 14 seasonal ales. Historically the images used to represent these ales had been generated over many years and as a result the artwork was presented in many different visual styles.

My brief was to create an original brand illustration style that reflected Harvey’s rich family run history whilst celebrating their new brand look whilst visually bringing all of the 14 seasonal ales into a unified collection. I created a unique and original modern woodcut illustration style that echoes the linear quality of the beautiful Sussex Downland and whilst complimenting Harvey’s new look, didn’t alienate their existing loyal customer base.

I achieved the clients requirements beyond their expectations, and even won a prestigious design award in the process.
